TFU have played at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2003 a.o. TFU's debut CD 'File Under Extreme' was voted 5th best Danish jazz release in 2002 (of 136) by the staff at the Danish magazine 'Jazz Special'. TFU's regular line-up comprise Robin Taylor: guitar & electronics etc., Karsten Vogel: saxophones, Pierre Tassone: violin & electronics, Johan Segerberg: basses & electronics and Kalle Mathiesen: drums & sampler. TFU have performed (and recorded) with special guest Peter Friis Nielsen (b) (On-Plugged in Elsinore). TFU are influenced by sixties avant-garde jazz shaped in modern sound aestethics, ranging from Ornette Coleman to Fred Frith and David Torn. 'File Under Extreme is a pretty remarkable recording. Not since my first encounters with the music of Roger Trigaux' Present, Univers Zero and Art Zoyd have I heard such a distinctive and seamless blend of jazz, metallic progressive rock, free improv, and late 20th Century European classical music.
