About the Artist Billy North, singer songwriter from Seattle, WA was born in Germany when his father was in the U.S. military there. His family moved back to the U.S. and settled in California where he grew up. Billy learned to play guitar as an early teenager and began writing songs at the same time. He had success in publishing a number of songs, was signed to a production deal and performed a lead vocal on a record that received quite a bit of airplay in Los Angeles. While in LA, Billy played with a number of notable musicians including Deron Johnson and Gary Novak who now play for Alanis Morisette. His management handled such artists as John Hiatt, Leo Kottke, and Mary Black. After a period of playing clubs in LA, showcasing for record labels, and recording demos, Billy decided to move to the Northwest where his father's family was originally from and put roots down there. After arriving in Seattle Billy decided to record the album he had been working toward for so long. ! ! The result is his solo debut "Under A Big Sky." "I had three things that I was trying to accomplish when I started this project; I wanted this record to be honest, emotional, and spontaneous. The recording studio can be a very sterile enviorment in which to capture energy and emotion. I hope I've succeeded in coming close." "Under A Big Sky" reflects some of Billy's romance with the Pacific Northwest as well as the tragic loss of his brother. Billy's brother Steve died in a car accident in 1993. The album is dedicated to him. "Under A Big Sky" was recorded in quite a few locations around Seattle and a number of incredible local talents performed on it. Billy lives in a suburb of Seattle with his wife and their three beautiful girls.
