After reading Remember Me This Way, by the same author, I could not wait to go back to purchase her first novel. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as good as Remember Me This Way. This is nothing to do with the writing, but perhaps more so that I am not British. Let me explain... I found that it took me at least 100 pages until I felt engaged by the book. I found it a bit hard to read, as there were a lot of British phrases and references that I simply did not understand, as well as words that you just don't hear that commonly in the States. This was a bit difficult to get past at first, but once I got a little over 100 pages in, the book gripped me and wouldn't let go. It became a major page-turner, and is cleverly written. It has a few good twists and turns, and leaves you guessing right until the end. Well done, but again, would probably have been an easier read if I were British or had spent some time in London.
